Newark and Sherwood Community and Voluntary Service (CVS), with its main office in the town of Newark, provides a strategic base from which a network of services branch out across the district.
The CVS was established in 1979 and is a registered charity as well as a company limited by guarantee. It has a voluntary Executive Committee which employs staff to implement the policies of the organisation.
The main aims of the CVS are to promote, support and develop voluntary action throughout the Newark & Sherwood District and to develop and support partnerships between the voluntary, community, statutory and private sectors. It does this through the work of the CVS Manager, District Partnership Officer, Funding Officer, Traveller Health Worker and administration staff. The CVS also operates a Volunteer Centre and a Voluntary Transport Scheme, both run by Co-ordinators.
