Newark & Sherwood Over 50’s Forum

A direct way for people over 50 to get involved and help shape the way local services are planned and developed is to join a local over 50’s forum.

Newark & Sherwood CVS supports a local Over 50’s Forum:

Newark & Sherwood Evergreens.

Newark & Sherwood Over 50’s Forum

The forum is an older people led independent group that brings people together to take forward ideas and projects in local communities.

The forum also comment on the services and policies that affect older people’s quality of life. Local older people work with a wide range of organizations that provide acre and support.

The forum has been established since 2001 and meets every 3 months in Newark or Ollerton.

How can the Over 50’s Forum help?

If you are over 50 your local forum can:

  • Provide a platform for taking forward ideas
  • Put you in touch with other agencies
  • Connect people to each other about issues that matter
  • Put forward a stronger collective 'older' voice

If you work in a public sector organisation older people's forum can enable you to:

  • Relate to a broad spectrum of older people in a structured way
  • Consult with older people about a range of services that affect them, eg safer communities, getting out and about, health and social care services, leisure and lifestyles and economic well-being

If you work in the voluntary and community sector the older people’s forum can:

  • be your partners in a range of projects
  • bring together some of the most active members of local communities that can help you with shared agendas
