Carers' Break
Supporting Gypsy and Traveller Carers in Nottinghamshire
The Traveller Health Worker based at Newark and Sherwood CVS will support Traveller Carers to:
- Identify themselves as Carers
- Access the appropriate services to support them in their role
- Shape the breaks they receive
- Become actively involved in shaping the service they receive
The Health Ambassador Project
The project brings together health professionals and the Gypsy and Traveller community. The Ambassadors meet with organisations to allow dialogue, information sharing and the promotion of understanding about Gypsy Traveller culture and lifestyle.
This process breaks down barriers and misunderstandings and improves access for this marginalised community to health and other local services.
