Funding Support
Newark & Sherwood Community and Voluntary Service provides a funding support service which helps local voluntary, community and self-help organisations to secure funds for their projects. Over the last year, we have helped local organisations to secure over one million pounds in funding.
Thanks to a grant from the Community Fund our Funding Officer, Lee Peacock , has been appointed to maintain and develop the funding advice and information service, throughout the Newark & Sherwood district.

Applying for funding There are no secrets about how to make better funding applications. It takes time, patience, care and research. Your enthusiasm for your project, combined with our help, will turn a good application into a great application. We offer one-to-one support with completing your funding applications. We are also happy to proof read any funding application before you submit it to the funder.
Searching for Funding A range of books and computer software are available. The Funding Officer will be glad to perform a funding search on your behalf, or if you would like to perform your own search, you can contact Lee Peacock to arrange a suitable time. Contact details are shown below.
Step by Step – Guide to Applying for Funding We have a range of fact sheets available covering issues such as: planning a funding bid, preparing to fill in the application form, and what to do if there is no application form. These are available at our offices at Millgate, or they can be downloaded from the www.moneyspinner.org web site. Click here to see step-by-step guide.
Get Ahead – Get a Fundraising Strategy Planning your fund-raising will help to target your efforts and reassure funders that the grants they award to you will be properly managed. We will help your organisation to develop a strategy.
Funding Surgeries If you are applying for a grant from a particular funder and would like the opportunity to meet with them to talk about your application, we can arrange the meeting/surgery for you.
Information Events We organise regular events where local funders are invited to speak about their particular grants. Click here to see our list of events.
Information Sessions We organise regular information sessions giving advice on funding issues. In the past we have held some very successful sessions on topics such as: a general overview on applying for funding, setting up a simple budget, and developing a funding strategy.
Funding Newsletter The Money Spinner is our quarterly funding information newsletter, which is filled with useful information about local and national funding. It is available from our office at Millgate or is available to download by clicking here.
Moneyspinner Web Site Thanks to the Coalfield Regeneration Trust and Newark Municipal Charities, we have been able to develop a funding website tailored to local needs. The Moneyspinner web site offers updates on the latest funds; you can do a funding search; a step-by-step guide to applying for funds and you can download the Money Spinner newsletter. Click here to visit the Moneyspinner web site.
Searching and applying for funds is a time consuming task, often taking you away from the more important and valuable work of your organisation. The CVS Funding Officer will be your support and resource during this process.
