A SPECIAL MEMORIAL SERVICE AT KING’S MILL HOSPITAL

A memorial service is being held at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust for those who have suffered the loss of a child.

The service will be held at the Faith Centre at King’s Mill Hospital on Friday 9th December at 7pm and family and friends are also welcome.

As part of the service, families are invited to bring a stone with their child’s name on, or they are able to receive a stone when they arrive, to place on the Cairn of Remembrance in the Faith Centre Garden.

A Remembrance book will also be part of the service, where families can write their child’s name, date of birth and place a photograph. For those who wish to use this book, it will be available from March 2017.

The Reverend Edith Dawson, Chaplain at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust says: “This is the first time that the children’s memorial service has been held at the Trust, and as part of this service we would like to begin a Remembrance Book for families to write in.”

During the memorial service refreshments will be available and staff will be there to talk to. The service will last about 40 minutes and will include music, poems and a short reflection.

Edith added: “We would like to make this an annual service at the Trust, where those who have experienced a loss, either recently or historically, can come together to remember their loved ones.”
