Sherwood Forest Hospitals to Celebrate Acute Medicine Awareness Day

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will join Acute Medical teams across the country in supporting Acute Medicine Awareness Day on 21st June.

The day aims to celebrate Acute Medicine, a fairly young specialty, as it connects different areas in primary and secondary care.

On 21st June key stakeholders and media will be invited to visit the Acute Medicine areas of King’s Mill Hospital. Tours of the EAU (Emergency Assessment Unit), SSU (Short Stay Unit) and AECU (Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit) will be available, so that they can meet the teams.

An information stand about Acute Medicine will be in the King’s Treatment Centre on 21st June to inform patients, visitors and staff about the area. There will also be a tombola and cake stand in aid of the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity.

Operations Manager for Acute Medicine, Pam Duro, said: “We are very proud of our Acute Medical teams and the way we all work together across the Trust as one team. The Trust has, in fact, been commended for this at the recent Health Service Journal Value in Healthcare awards, where we were awarded for improving patient flow, value, efficiency and patient experience.

“The Acute Medicine Awareness Day is the perfect way to thank our teams for all their hard work in providing outstanding care and treatment to our patients.
