Newark & Sherwood CVS Boosted By Donations From The Santander Foundation
Newark & Sherwood CVS has received £ 4393.50 to fund their accredited Volunteer Centre to provide support into volunteering for unemployed people in Ollerton as a stepping stone into employment.
The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation, which offers Discovery Grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.
Newark & Sherwood CVS is a support and development organisation, promoting and encouraging local voluntary activity in the Newark & Sherwood area.
Being at the heart of their communities, listening to their needs and speaking up for them is their driving force and they deliver a wide range of services in partnership with other voluntary and community sector organisations.
The grant will provide unemployed people in Ollerton with an opportunity to gain volunteer training and support from a mentor to help identify goals and set action plans in line with career aspirations. Our matching service will help find the best placement to achieve this.
Helen Stanbridge, Senior Manager at Newark and Sherwood CVS said: Ollerton is an ex coalfield area with a high level of unemployment and few opportunities. This project will help remove some of the specific barriers faced by unemployed people when trying to find work.
Amy Slack, Manager at the Santander Foundation said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Newark & Sherwood CVS and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
