Volunteers Week 2020

Volunteers’ Week takes place 1 – 7 June, every year. Established in 1984, and now in its 36th year, it recognises the contribution of over 20 million people who volunteer in their communities across the UK as well as raising awareness about the benefits becoming a volunteer and the diverse volunteering roles that are available.

It is a opportunity for Newark and Sherwood CVS to say thank you for the very special contribution made by all of our volunteers.

This year, the events we usually host have had to be put on hold. Nevertheless, we want to recognise the huge amount of help that our volunteers have been providing both during the year and more recently.

Like many across the volunteering sector, CVS have been focused on helping our community cope with the many consequences of Coronavirus.  Supported by our talented volunteers, who willingly offer their time and enthusiasm, we have been providing a trusted shopping service to shielded and extremely vulnerable people and with our Door2Door service temporarily suspended our willing drivers have kindly provided a Check and Chat service to those who are in need of someone to talk to.  So whilst, in these current difficult times, it would be inappropriate to celebrate, we still want to acknowledge, in this special week, some of the amazing differences that our volunteers have made.

We are very grateful to them all.
